Dany Laferriere
Vice President, Communications & Outreach
Born in Saint-Paul de Montminy, Québec, Dany Laferrière joined the Canadian Fuels Association (CFA) as Vice President, Communications & Outreach in February 2024. With over 30 years of experience in strategic and operational communications, reputation management, and outreach, Dany oversees the development and implementation of the association’s communication strategy.
Dany began his career as a military public affairs officer, serving Canada for 20 years both domestically and internationally. During his military service, he provided communications support and strategic counsel to senior military commanders, elected officials, diplomats, and bureaucrats in Canada and abroad. After retiring from the military, he spent 15 years with Suncor Energy, where he held various management positions, ultimately leading the team responsible for providing communications support to executive leaders overseeing operations across the company.
Dany holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Royal Military College of Canada, a certificate in Public Affairs Management from Ryerson University, and has completed several leadership programs, including the Harvard In-Residence Leadership Program.
In his personal life, Dany enjoys traveling, fishing, woodworking, and coaching baseball during the summer. He is fluent in both English and French and lives in Calgary, Alberta, with his wife Val, where they raised their two daughters and son.
